I’m often drawn to Coltrane’s lyrical simple ideas within a complex solo. I like it when he plays melodically and leans heavily on his amazing sound and feel.
In this short video lesson I transcribe 5 easy lines from a solo he played over So What on a Miles and Trane album called “The Last Tour” from 1960.
