This cell phone recording was from a quartet gig on Aug 15th 2019 at Ca Va in Kansas City. Matt Otto – tenor sax, John Kizilarmut – drums, Seth Lee – bass. (Stephen Martin was the band leader also played tenor on this “two tenor” gig). I felt pretty good on this solo overall as I managed to maintain restraint throughout. The transcription was done by Curtis Swift (saxsolos.com) and edited by me in an attempt to add the concepts underlying the lines/phrases. This analysis is mainly scales, 4 note cells or tetrads, chromatic passing tones and chromatic approach notes. The PDF can be downloaded below.
