I recorded a new CD over the summer in Portugal with my friend and fellow saxophonist Xose Miquelez and Abe Rabade (piano).
We each contributed two original songs for the project and performed a small concert in Porto the day before the recording.
Below is one track from the CD which is a contrafact I wrote over the chord progression to U.M.M.G. (Upper Manhattan Medical Group) by Billy Strayhorn. I titled the song with the anagram Gumm.
The recording was a really enjoyable and getting to play and meet Abe was a pleasure. He is an amazing musician and both kind and accommodating, playing with him was extremely comfortable and intuitive.
You can buy or listen to the recording on Band Camp.
~ Enjoy!
